The pandemic has put a huge dip into Charlottes international connections. Over the course of the last year, only one international wide body destination was restarted – London Heathrow. But with borders between the EU and US as well as to our northern neighbour slowly reopening, we also see a return of transatlantic travel, as well as connections to Canada.
Lufthansa has restarted their CLT-MUC service already in July, with 3 weekly flights connecting the Queen City to the Bavarian Capital. American Airlines will join Lufthansa on the same route, with a daily service on a Boeing 777 aircraft. Service will start up again on December 17th.
Another connection to Germany will start already on the upcoming weekend. Also on a Boeing 777 aircraft, American will restart CLT-FRA connections to Frankfurt on a daily service, starting up again on October 30th.
Air Canada will add Charlotte – Toronto back on the map. The current service resumption is still not 100% confirmed, but flights can already be booked on their regional partner Air Canada Jazz – twice daily on an Embraer 175 aircraft, starting up again on January 10th
Overall this is a good sign of normality coming back to international airtravel – and we at cltflyer.com are looking forward welcoming many more interesting airlines back to Charlotte in the near future (Stay tuned for some surprise airline!)
