According to Twitter, PSA Airlines has grounded most of their fleet today for a “standard inspection”. This leaves many people stranded and at Charlotte Airport alone, more than 125 flights have already been cancelled.
While the inspection may be standard, the grounding is anything but. It is not clear yet, but all signs point towards the grounding was due to missed inspections following an FAA Airworthiness Directive. FAA has ordered PSA to leave all planes on the ground after not following this AD in a timely matter.
