Charlotte will loose its prime plane spotting location that was also very popular for all kinds of visitors for its skyline and airfield views. Due to construction of the new runway and the surrounding infrastructure, the overlook and Old Dowd Road will close permanently on October 3rd 2022. A new location will be constructed as part of the runway construction, but will probably not open before the 2nd half of 2024. In the interim, CLT Airpot is looking to create a temporary overview park a few hundred feet down the road.
